The Fayette County Reagan Republicans had the privilege of hosting Senator Rick Santorum on behalf of Dave McCormick, candidate for United States Senator representing Pennsylvania. The meeting opened with a word of prayer by Pastor Mark Scott followed by our Pledge of Allegiance.

Senator Rick Santorum is a two-time presidential candidate-winning 11 states, including the 2012 Iowa Republican caucuses, and 4 million votes. Rick served two terms in both the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, where he became a leading government reformer, pro-life advocate, and national security expert.
Rick is the author of the New York Times bestsellers It Takes a Family, American Patriots: Answering the Call to Freedom, and Blue Collar Conservatives: Recommitting to an America that Works. Rick and his wife Karen are also the co-authors of Bella’s Gift, chronicling their special-needs youngest daughter, Bella, who was born with Trisomy 18.

Rick presented a motivating speech with a historical overview of congress regarding elections, and division in America, which has been present for most of our nations history. He explained that after spending 16 years in Congress it became clear that Washington was growing bigger and bigger, and more and more out of control, spending-wise. This lead the lawmaker to join and recently become Senior Advisor to the Convention of States, an organization that our founding fathers put into place through Article V of our Constitution that allows for state legislatures to call for a convention to propose amendments to limit federal government. This in turn would limit terms for federal officials, limit federal spending, and limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government. In short, this would limit centralized government in Washington and return it to the states.
Rick explained that to help stop the liberal left wing democrats radical movement of taking away free speech, open boarders, increases in tax and spend initiatives, it will be necessary for Pennsylvanians to elect Dave McCormick as the next United States Senator. Dave is a 7th generation Pennsylvanian, West Point graduate, combat veteran and Bronze star recipient. He’s a Pennsylvania job creator and a business leader. He is a national security expert and a strong and experienced voice for how to overcome the threat from China. And, most important, he is a devoted husband and father of six bright young women for whom he wants to preserve the American dream.
The Fayette County Reagan Republicans support and vote for Republican Candidates and this should be the desire of any conservative. We provide a platform for candidates to speak and share why they should be elected to serve we the people. Candidates have worked hard through the primary election. It is now time for us to vote for them as public servants.
